Until just a few months to go for the 2018 YOG Games, the Vanuatu Women’s Hockey Team had to practise barefoot, with old sticks and without protective gear. Most of the team members had only just taken up the sport and within a year, the team represented the country at the Games. Despite losing all their matches, the team was one of the most popular teams of the Games.
