Balancing full-time studies and being an athlete was never easy for Team Fiji’s Table Tennis rep, Vicky Wu.

However, the 19-year-old has mastered it over the years since he started playing competitively.

He is an undergraduate student at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia pursuing a degree in Computer, and trains every day.

Wu made history for Team Fiji at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, by being the first male to represent Table Tennis at the Olympic Games.

Despite going down to Great Britain's Liam Pitchford in the Men's Singles Round of 64, Wu said he was glad to have scored some points.

"Big atmosphere here; this is a once in a life experience," he said.

"My advice would be to start young, train and work hard.

"Eventually everyone starts at some point, work hard and one day you’ll reach the top."

Wu has been motivated to take his training to another level if he will return to another Olympic Games.

"I'm grateful to be here representing Team Fiji and I hope when I get back and start some real training.

"One day I want to be like the top people here in Table Tennis.

"It's pretty cool to make a debut at 19, not many people get to experience this.

"Coming here I've been motivated to train better and play more."
