Tahiti dominates Day 2 as competition intensifies at Pacific Mini Games 2025

Tahiti strengthened their commanding lead at the 2025 Pacific Mini Games with a spectacular Day 2 performance, adding 11 gold medals to conclude with 23 gold, 13 silver, and 4 bronze medals in the overall standings.

KOROR, PALAU – The aquatic centre witnessed exceptional performances as Tahiti's swimming powerhouse delivered five gold medals. Déotille Videau, the 16-year-old rising star and Games flag bearer, captured her fifth gold medal, cementing her status as one of the competition's breakout athletes. Not to be outdone, Nael Roux claimed his fourth gold of the Games, showcasing the depth of Tahiti's swimming talent.

Tahiti's dominance extended to the water with three decisive victories in Va'a competition. The team swept the V6 500m events, claiming gold in the women's, men's, and mixed categories – a testament to their mastery of this traditional Pacific sport.

The wrestling mats proved equally fruitful for Tahiti, with Tamaterai Herve (67kg), Vaitehau Otcenasek (77kg), and Keona Duval (68kg) all securing gold medals. In archery, the precision trio of Aurore Cottet, Arthur Demachy, and Thais Pendu rounded out Tahiti's golden day.

Samoa held firm in second place with 10 total medals (6 gold, 4 bronze), adding three crucial medals on Day 2. Paige Schendelaar-Kemp delivered an impressive victory in the women's 100m butterfly, while the wrestling contingent contributed gold medals through Shane Palemia (87kg) and Ekitoa Tamati (97kg).

The Northern Mariana Islands currently occupies third position with 12 medals (4 gold, 3 silver, 5 bronze). Swimming sensation Isaiah Roger Aleksenko added his third gold of the Games, continuing his outstanding individual campaign in the pool.

4th Place: Republic of the Marshall Islands – 4 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze

5th Place: Federated States of Micronesia – 3 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze.

Competition intensity is set to escalate on Day 3 with medal opportunities across multiple sports. Continuing competition includes Archery, Baseball, Basketball 3x3, Softball, Swimming, Va'a, Volleyball, and Wrestling finals. New sports launching include Table Tennis, Beach Volleyball, and Weightlifting.

With more than half the competition still ahead, the medal race promises to deliver thrilling performances as Pacific nations vie for podium positions at the 2025 Pacific Mini Games in Koror, Palau.
