Pacific NOCs at the Olympics – 11 August: Final Day at Paris 2024

August 12, 2024
PARIS 2024

On the final day of competition at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, our last athlete from the Pacific region, Iuniarra Sipaia of Samoa, took to the stage in the Women’s +81kg Weightlifting event.

Competing in her first-ever Olympics, Iuniarra delivered a strong performance, finishing 11th overall with a total lift of 246.

Iuniarra's event saw her successfully lift 100kg, 105kg, and 110kg in the Snatch category. In the Clean & Jerk, she completed lifts of 141kg twice and capped off with a 148kg effort, culminating in her final total. While this was her debut on the Olympic platform, Iuniarra had previously qualified for Tokyo 2020 but was unable to compete due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As Paris 2024 comes to a close, Iuniarra’s performance marks a significant milestone for Samoa and the entire Pacific region, showcasing the resilience and dedication of our athletes on the global stage.

We look forward to the continued growth and success of our Oceania Warriors in the years to come.
