Sports enthusiasts on an academic pathway now have an extra ten days to submit applications to the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC) Olympic Solidarity Programme sponsored scholarship - the Pacific Regional Sports Research Scholarship (PRSR) at the University of the South Pacific (USP).

Implemented by USP’s Research and Internationalisation Office, the graduate scholarship programme is receiving applications for its third cohort of students and the deadline has been moved to 14 February 2022.

To date, the programme has assisted students from Tuvalu, Kiribati, and Fiji in sports research in the fields of economics, sociology, history and politics.

The current call for applications seeks students with an interest in sport from the following three focus areas: economics, social impact and physical education. The scholarship is open to anyone who already has an undergraduate degree with the appropriate GPA score outlined in the eligibility criteria.

In addition to the graduate scholarship programme, the ONOC-USP Partnership includes a Sports Communication Internship with USP journalism; support to the Oceania Sport Information Centre (OSIC) a knowledge and information hub for Oceania sport; and Information Technology Services (ITS) support in events.

ONOC calls on everyone in the Pacific islands sports network to share the opportunity with potential candidates.
