Former Anderson University women's basketball standout Britney Bailey will participate in the Pacific Games: Tournament for Women 2023 (FIBA basketball) representing team Guam.
The 17th Pacific Games, also known as 2023 Pacific Games and SOL2023, is hosted by Solomon Islands from November 19- December 2. Every four years the Pacific comes together in friendship to celebrate the Pacific Games, a multi-sport event. The Pacific Games is the official qualifier of the Oceania region to the FIBA Asia Cup Pre-Qualifiers.
Bailey average 5.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game for her career (2018-2023) as a Trojan. She totaled 92 career blocked shots which ranks seventh in AU's all-time history books. The native of Santa Rita, Guam, also ranks fourth in overall rebounds (836), fourth in offensive rebounds (303) and third in defensive rebounds (533). Bailey played in 125 games and made 64 career starts.
Along with the host, Solomon Islands, the other competing teams are Cook Islands, Fiji, Guam, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tahiti and Tonga.
A total of 24 sports competitions, played at 11 game venues will take place during the two-week duration of the Games. According to the schedule Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis and Table Tennis will kick off this year's Games, with their competitions starting Friday the 17th of November, two days before the Sol2023 PG Official Opening Ceremony on Sunday the 19th.
