XLI ONOC General Assembly, 2021

The XLI ONOC General Assembly held on 9 October 2021 was its second Virtual Assembly through Zoom and streamed live on YouTube, given the travel and social distancing restrictions of the current COVID-19 Pandemic.

At the 41st AGA, all National Olympic Committees (NOCs) had made it to their home countries except Tonga (TASANOC) and the Cook Islands (CISNOC), after the Tokyo2020 Olympic Games which were held from 23 July - 8 August 2021, a year after the postponement due to the global pandemic.

Background

Under the provisions of the ONOC Articles of Association, the General Assembly is the highest governing body of ONOC. The Member NOCs are entitled to participate annually in the General Assembly, represented by their delegates, in addition to the members of the Executive Board of ONOC. Representatives from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), various IOC Commissions, Organising Committees of Olympic Games (OCOGs) and other partners in the Oceania continent participate in the General Assembly.

Under the ONOC Articles of Association, an Ordinary General Assembly must be held every year.

The General Assembly elects the President and the Secretary-General every four years, as well as the members of the Executive Board. The Executive Board and ONOC Commissions meet at least twice a year.
