ONOC Secretary General, Ricardo Blas, acknowledged the need for continued efforts to address gender disparities as ONOC marked International Women’s Day today.

"While we have made significant strides, there is still more that must be done," SG Blas noted.

"We continue to align our ONOC Strategic Plan for 2024 to 2028 with the IOC’s (International Olympic Committee) 2020+5 Agenda, and Gender Equality and Inclusion Objectives which prioritises achieving gender parity and fostering diversity across all levels of sports governance."

Secretary General Blas emphasised ONOC's role as a catalyst for change, despite being the smallest continent in the Olympic Movement.

"The Oceania region may be small in size, but we are certainly making significant contributions," he affirmed.

"By championing gender equality and empowering women and girls in sports, we are driving positive change and shaping a more inclusive future for all."
